The Peugeot 208 T16 is a four-wheel-drive R5-class rally car developed by Peugeot Sport as a successor to the successful 207 Super 2000. The car brought back the legendary "T16" badge (Turbo 16), a direct nod to the iconic Peugeot 205 T16 from the Group B era.
In addition to the real rally sport, the car is very popular in model making and slot racing world, where manufacturers such as Scaleauto release special "Rally Cup" editions on a scale of 1:32.
Technical Specifications (Real Rally Car)
The official factory specifications of the Peugeot Sport Store for the 208 T16 are:
Engine: 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharger with direct injection (EP6 CDT).
Power: 280 hp at 6,000 rpm.
Torque: 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm.
Drive: All-wheel drive (4WD) with mechanical, self-blocking front and rear differentials.
Gearbox: Sequential manual 5-speed transmission.
Weight: Minimum 1200 kg.
Undercarriage: McPherson suspension with adjustable Peugeot Sport shock absorbers.
The Pikes Peak "Monster" Variant
Although the R5 version was intended for the European and World Rally Championship (WRC2), Peugeot also built an extreme, one-off variant: the 208 T16 Pikes Peak. Controlled by Sébastien Loeb, this 875-hp monster broke the legendary record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with 875 horsepower and weighing just 875 kg in 2013.
