The Porsche 550 Spyder #15, driven at the Berlin GP on the iconic AVUS circuit in 1955, is one of the most legendary factory cars in Porsche's racing history. The car was driven by the famous German driver, journalist and founder of the Porsche magazine Christophorus, Richard von Frankenberg. With this specific starting number composition, he won the victory in his class and the German championship.

The Race (1955): Richard von Frankenberg dominated the 1500cc class on the fast-paced AVUS circuit with starting number 15. He achieved the victory with an impressive average speed of 197.4 km/h (122.7 mph).
The Circuit: AVUS in Berlin was known at the time for its extremely long straights and the life-threatening, 43-degree steep north bend (also called the "Wall of Death").
Confusion with 1956: Von Frankenberg became even more famous worldwide at AVUS in 1956. During that race, he flew with a further developed Porsche (the unique, aerodynamic type 645 "Mickey Mouse" prototype) over the edge of the steep curve. He was hurled out of the car, landed in the bushes and survived the accident as if by a miracle with only minor injuries—an event known as the "Miracle of AVUS."
