Wire-style wheels and a painted driver figure add period detail. The new 1:32 analog Revell/Monogram slot car remains in its original clear-front packaging.
The Chaparral 2 (2A) with starting number #65, piloted by legend Hap Sharp, raced in June 1965 during the famous June Sprints on Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin). This iconic, innovative American sports car from Chaparral Cars dominated the United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC) national championship during that period.
The car has remained very recognizable worldwide and has become a sought-after collectible in miniature form over the years, especially as a 1/32 slot car released by brands such as Revell Monogram and MRRC.

The Driver: The car was driven during this particular race weekend by Hap Sharp, co-founder of Chaparral along with Jim Hall.
Innovative Chassis: The Chaparral 2 was revolutionary because of its monocoque of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (composite), a unique in motorsport at the time.
Secret Transmission: Coupled with the powerful Chevrolet V8 engine, the team used an innovative semi-automatic gearbox (tolling converter) developed by General Motors. This significantly reduced wheel spin and gave the Chaparrals a huge advantage in the acceleration of curves.
Aerodynamics: In the course of 1965, the team experimented on these cars with early forms of active aerodynamics, such as the flipper spoiler that could be operated by the driver via a foot pedal.
Later that year (September 1965) the team returned to the same circuit for the longer Road America 500, where car #65 (then divided by Sharp and Bruce Jennings) grabbed a handsome 2nd place behind Jim Hall's sister car #66.
