The car has also become known worldwide among model car enthusiasts because the Spanish brand Ninco has released a very popular 1:32 slotcar reproduction of this specific silver/grey promoter and test car.
Main Specifications & Features
The Basic: Although the car is based on the C5 Corvette platform (1997–2004), virtually all parts were modified. Only the roofline and the windows remained original.
Width for Le Mans: The bodywork (designed by Paul Deutschman) was completely made of carbon kevlar. The car is made exactly two meters wide to take maximum advantage of the aerodynamic regulations of Le Mans.
The Engine: Under the hood is a Callaway-tuned, atmospheric LS1 V8 engine built according to Le Mans specifications. The street versions already delivered 440 horsepower, while the race versions were even more powerful.
Performance: The C12-R proved its sheer speed by taking the pole position in its class in 2001 during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with which he was too fast off Porsche and Ferrari's factory cars at the time.
