The Slotcar
The Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Bumblebee (C3272A) is a very popular limited edition analog slotcar (scale 1:32) released in a global edition of just 2,000 pieces. The model is based on the iconic Autobot Bumblebee from Michael Bay's Transformers live-action film series.

Key Features & Specifications

Model Number: C3272A
Type: Analog slotcar (scale 1:32), suitable for standard Scalextric tracks.
Design: A detailed replica of the modern Chevrolet Camaro Concept (as seen in the films from 2007 onwards). The model is provided by Scalextric with a unique "battle-worn" and weathered lacquer coating to mimic the battles from the film.
Technique: Equipped with a powerful neodymium Magnatraction magnet for extra handling and grip in the corners.
Collector value: Each copy is individually numbered on the packaging (e.g. "No. X of 2000"). Because it is a limited edition that has been sold out in the regular stores for a long time, it has become a rare collectors item.

• Drive: Rear-wheel drive (2WD) with a sidewinder motor configuration.
• Motor: Standard mabuchi-style SP motor rated at 18,000 RPM.
• Magnatraction: Equipped with an adjustable neodymium chassis magnet to provide strong downforce and prevent deslotting.
• Lighting: Functional Xenon-effect headlights and working rear tail lights.
• Digital Plug Ready (DPR): No. This model was released before standard DPR configurations were implemented on this chassis variant. Converting it to Scalextric Digital requires manual soldering of an in-line micro-decoder chip (such as the C8515).
• Guide Blade: Easy-change pick-up braids system.

Visual & Collectible Details

• Aesthetic Finish: Features a unique matte yellow paint scheme with black racing stripes, heavily layered with factory-applied "battle damage" weathering effects (simulated dust, carbon scoring, and scratches from combat).
• Interior: Features a clear windshield with a fully modeled black interior cockpit and a detailed driver figure.
• Packaging: Comes enclosed in a special edition Transformers-branded crystal display case. The collector number (e.g., xxxx / 2000) is printed directly on the backing card inside the box.

Important note for collectors
Although the model is based on the character Bumblebee, this slotcar cannot transform into a robot. It's purely a racing and scale model of the Chevrolet Camaro in its vehicle mode.

In unused condition (Mint in Box) this set is complete with spare-tow sockets (pick-up braids) in the storage box. The current market value on collector platforms and auction sites is, depending on the condition of the box.

The Real Car
... on which the Scalextric Bumblebee is based has a special story. In the first Transformers film (2007), Bumblebee transforms from a rusty, second-hand Chevrolet Camaro from 1977 into the brand new 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept.

Because the film came out before the official, fifth-generation Camaro went into production (which only appeared in 2009 as a model year 2010), General Motors and the filmmakers had to be creative:

1. The movie cars were "secret" replicas

Under the skin a Pontiac: Because there was only a priceless, hand-built prototype of the new Camaro that could not be raced, General Motors built two functional replicas especially for the film.

The chassis: These film cars were built on the platform of a Pontiac GTO (model year 2004-2006). The body panels were made of fiberglass using moulds from the official Camaro Concept.

2. Specifications of the Concept Car
The original concept model that GM showed at auto shows (and that model stood for Bumblebee's appearance) had impressive figures:

Engine: A Corvette-based 6.0-litre LS2 V8 engine.
Power: 400 hp sent to the rear wheels.
Transmission: Six-speed manual transmission.
Wheels: Strikingly large 21-inch rims at the front and 22-inch rear rims.

3. The 'Bumblebee' color
The bright, shiny yellow color you see in the film is not a standard Chevrolet factory option. It is a custom 'Sunrise Yellow' lacquer with a light mother-of-pearl/golden glow. This particular hue was developed so that the car would literally 'beam' on the cinema screen under different types of filmlight.

The legend lives on
The introduction of this car in Transformers was so successful that it single-handedly saved the Camaro from obscurity at the time. Chevrolet later brought official Transformers Special Editions to the consumer market due to its huge success, complete with Autobot logos on the mudguards and center console.
