Availability and Value
Since this model has been out of production for a long time, it has become a popular collectible among slotcar enthusiasts. Prices vary widely based on the state (new in original packaging vs. used).
The real 1-on-1 model of the silver Ninco slotcar is the legendary Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion (Street Version) from 1997.
This was not a normal street car that was converted into a racer, but exactly the other way around: Porsche designed a real Le Mans racing car and forced it to build a handful of street-legal copies to meet the homologation requirements of the FIA GT1 class. In the end, only about 20 to 25 pieces of it have been produced, making it one of the rarest and most exclusive Porsches in the world.
The main specifications of the real car:
The Engine: A 3.2-litre water-cooled flat-six (boxer engine) with two KKK turbos placed in the middle.
Power: Pinched up to 544 hp (to meet emission requirements), coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.
Performance:
0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Top speed of 308 km/h.
The Design: Although the car is called "911", it actually only shared the headlights and the taillights with the then production-911. The silver Ninco model has specifically the headlights of the 996 generation, the generation in which most of the ~20 production copies are supplied. The rest of the body was entirely made of carbon fibre.
Today, these rare silver "Straßenversions" are virtually priceless. If one of them already appears at an auction, he will change owners for amounts between 5 and 6 million euros.
