The Abarth 500 Assetto Corse is definitely a real race car! Abarth unveiled this extreme, limited factory racer in 2008 especially for track use and brand cups such as the Trofeo Abarth 500.
The real car is very different from a standard street version:
Performance: Equipped with a 1.4-litre turbo engine that delivers about 190 to 200 hp.
Weight reduction: Completely stripped inside (no back seat, no insulation, carbon fiber door panels), which weighs only 930 kg.
Real racing upgrades: Equipped with a full roll cage, Brembo racing jumping, wider track, four-point seat bucket seats and a striking rear wing.
What about number #55?
NSR is developing their slotcars under official license from Abarth. Although the Assetto Corse is a real racing car, NSR regularly releases so-called "fantasy liveries" or special club editions (such as their performances with Martini, Repsol or Jägermeister stickering). Start number #55 has been released specifically by NSR on a gray variant with the well-known red Abarth stripes. This color scheme (grey with red) is exactly what the official factory presentation car looked like in real life.
