Survivor: The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1976 was a wear and tear for the factory BMWs. Car #42 was the only official Group 5 CSL to reach the finish line. For example, the sister car (#43 with Dieter Quester) fell out in the 12th hour due to a motorcycle fire.
Appearance: In accordance with the Group 5 regulations, the car had extremely widened wheel arches and the characteristic giant rear wing (which gave the CSL the nickname "Batmobile"). Also typical were the side-pipe outlets that stuck out on the side.
