Bob Jane Camaro
The Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro Bob Jane is a beloved collectible among slotcar enthusiasts, which mimics the iconic "Hugger Orange" ZL-1 Camaro by Australian racing legend Bob Jane. This car was one of the few original ZL-1s in the world and dominated Australian coach racing in the early 70's.
## Main Scalextric Models
Scalextric has released several versions of the Bob Jane Camaro on scale 1:32, often as limited editions:
* C2413 (Number 7): A rare limited edition (1500 pieces) of the 1969 Camaro in the famous orange color with Castrol sponsorship.
* C2696 (Number 76): A limited edition of the 1969 Bob Jane Camaro, also in orange with sponsorship of Castrol, Levi’s and Total.
* C4172 (1972 Symmons Plains): A more recent version of the Chevrolet ZL-1 Camaro with which Jane participated in the 1972 ATCC Championship.
## Technical Specifications (1:32 Scale)
Most of Scalextric’s Bob Jane Camaro models share a similar technical base designed for speed and grip:
* Engine: Sidewinder setup with a 18,000 rpm S-Can motor for a smooth weight distribution.
* Drive: 2WD with plastic wheels and rubber tires.
* Chassis: Equipped with Magnatraction and space for up to three neodymium magnets for extra stability on the track.
* Extras: Often Digital Plug Ready (DPR), making them easy to convert for digital jobs with a separately available chip.
## Availability and Value
Because these models have often been released as limited editions, they are considered "difficult to find," especially outside of Australia. [12]
